How to Adopt an Athlete and enter the prize draw:
- Visit our Donation Page and choose the level at which you’d like to support the athletes. We have $5, $10, and $15 options. For every $5 you donate, you will be entered once to win one of three great winter packages (i.e. $5 = 1 entry, $10 = 2 entries, $15 = 3 entries, etc). 100% of funds raised go to the athletes featured in the Grouse Mountain Adopt an Athlete program, so you can be sure your contributions directly impact their success!
- Alternatively, you can enter the draw for the prizing for no donation amount. To do this, please write us a 200 word letter on either of the two following topics:
a) Why Vancouver is the ideal city to host the world in 2010
b) How winter sports have inspired a common passion that unites our province.

Adopt an Athlete prize draw Rules & Regulations:
1. ELIGIBILITY
1.1. To be eligible for this contest (“Contest”), an individual must:
a. be a legal resident of Canada (excluding Quebec); and
b. be of the age of majority in his/her province of residence or older on the Contest Opening Date (hereinafter defined).
1.2. Grouse Mountain (the “Sponsor”), its employees and affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising
and promotional agencies, the Independent Judging Organization (hereinafter defined), or parties engaged in the development, production and distribution of materials related to the Contest and the household members or immediate family of any of the above, are not eligible to participate in the Contest. Regarding the application of these rules, “immediate family” means husband, wife, spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, son and daughter, whether or not they reside in the same household.
2. DEADLINES FOR ENTRY
2.1. The Contest opens on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 1:00 PM Pacific (the “Contest Opening Date”) and closes on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific (the “Contest Closing Date”).
3. HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST
3.1. There is no purchase necessary to enter the Contest.
3.2. Enter on-line by visiting www.grousemountain.com and either opting to donate to the Adopt an Athlete Program or by sending in a 200 word essay as described below in Section 8. “Participants Submission Letters. Mailed entries must be received Friday, August 28, 2009.
5. WINNER SELECTION
5.1. Three (3) finalists (each a “Finalist”) will be selected by random draw among all the eligible entries received by the Contest Closing Date. The draw will take place on Monday, August 31, 2009 (the “Draw Date”) at 6400 Nancy Greene Way, North Vancouver, BC V7R 4K9. The odds of winning will depend on the total number of eligible entries received by the Contest Closing Date.
5.2. To be declared a winner (the “Winner”), each Finalist will be required to complete and sign a written declaration and release form (the “Declaration and Release Form”) acknowledging and confirming (a) their eligibility for and compliance with these rules, (b) the non-responsibility of the Sponsor and any other organization involved with the Prize or Contest and their respective employees, for any injury, accident, loss, or misfortune relating to the Contest, Prize or awarding of the Prize and (c) confirming the originality and ownership of rights associated with their submission letter (if that was the method of entry) and granting rights to the Sponsor for the use of their letter, and to correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, the arithmetical skill–testing question appearing on the Declaration and Release Form.
5.3. The completed and signed Declaration and Release Form must be received by the Sponsors within fifteen (15) business days after the date that the Sponsors will have sent the Declaration and Release Form to the Finalist, otherwise that Finalist will be disqualified and another Finalist will be selected from the remaining eligible entries.
6. PRIZE DETAILS
6.1. The following three (3) prizes (each a “Prize”) are available to be won:
- A high performance ski pr snowboard package for 2 (approx. retail value $3000.00)
- Two (2) Adult Grouse Mountain Snow Passes valid through the 2010 winter season (April 30, 2010 (approx. retail value $1600.00)

7. ADDITIONAL PRIZE DETAILS
7.1. The Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable or convertible to cash. No substitution is possible, except in the Sponsor’s sole and entire discretion. Any portion of the Prize not accepted by a Winner will be forfeited. The Sponsor will not be responsible if any
event results in the cancellation of the Prize or if other factors beyond its reasonable control prevent the Prize or any part of the Prize from being fulfilled. The Sponsor makes no express or implied warranties of any kind with respect to safety, appearance or performance of the Prize. By accepting the Prize, each Winner acknowledges that the only warranties applicable to any aspect of the Prize, if any, are the warranties provided by the supplier of the Prize to the Sponsor that are transferable and/or the manufacturer’s warranty. In no circumstance whatsoever, a Winner shall have any recourse against the Sponsor in respect of any warranty of the Contest or the Prize.
8. PARTICIPANTS’ SUBMISSION LETTERS
8.1. Sponsor reserves the non-exclusive right to publish submitted letters on its website and/or in any advertising the Sponsor deems fit. Releases are the responsibility of the Participant. All letter submissions must be original and owned exclusively by the entrant(s). By submitting a letter, a Participant represents to the Sponsor that their letter is original and owned exclusively by such Participant and does not infringe the rights of any third party. Previously published letters will be disqualified. Letters cannot have been previously or simultaneously entered in any other contest.
Contestants are solely responsible for complying with any applicable copyright and trademark laws, and Sponsor assumes no obligation or liability for any breach or alleged breach of any third party rights. 9. GENERAL CONDITIONS
9.1. All entries (including submitted letters) become the property of the Sponsors.
9.2. No correspondence pertaining to the Contest will be entered into except with the Finalists and the Winners.
10. INDEMNIFICATION BY PARTICIPANTS
10.1. By entering the Contest, each Contest entrant (a “Participant”):
- releases the Sponsor and its directors, officers, employees, parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, sponsors and agents from any and all liability for any injury, loss or damage of any kind to the Participant or any other person, including personal injury, death, or property damage, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the Prize, participation in this Contest, any breach of these Contest rules, or in any Prize-related activity;
- agrees to fully indemnify the Sponsor and its directors, officers, employees, parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, sponsors and agent from any and all claims by third parties relating to the Contest, without limitation.
11. CONDUCT
11.1. By entering this Contest, Participants agree to be bound by these rules and to abide by the decisions of the independent judging organization which are final.
11.2. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any Participant they find to be:
- violating these Contest rules;
- tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process;
12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
11.1. All Online Entries and Mail Entries become the property of the Sponsor who assumes no responsibility for lost, delayed, destroyed or misdirected entries, whether online or by mail, or for telephone failures or technical failures of any kind, fraud, incomplete, failed or delayed transmissions, whether caused by the Sponsor, users or by any of the equipment associated with or utilized in the promotion or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, suspend or modify the Contest, should an unauthorized human intervention or other cause beyond the Sponsor’s control, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest.
13. RELEASE/PRIVACY/USE OF ENTRANT INFORMATION
13.1. By entering this Contest, the Participant agrees to:
- the use of Participant’s personal information by the Sponsor for the purposes of administering the Contest and awarding the Prize;
- sign a Declaration and Release Form as described in these rules; and
- the use by the Sponsor of the Participant’s personal and other information. Participant’s personal information will not be provided to any third parties, other than as provided for in these rules.
13.2. The Winner will be required, within fifteen (15) business days after the date that the Sponsors will have sent the Declaration and Release Form, to complete and sign the said Declaration and Release Form
13.3. By accepting the Prize, each Winner grants permission to the Sponsors to use his/her name, address, photograph, likeness, voice, Prize information and/or biographical information for publicity and promotional purpose without further compensation unless prohibited by law.
14. LAWS
14.1. These are official Contest rules. This Contest is subject to federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. These Contest rules are subject to change without notice in order to comply with any applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws or the policy of any other entity having jurisdiction over the Sponsor.
